Wedding in the Belgian Ardennes at Domaine de Bromromme
For couples looking for a wedding that feels like a shared weekend away.
Tucked away between the forests of the Belgian Ardennes, Domaine de Bromromme feels like a place where time naturally slows down. For Ray & Kim, it became the setting for a relaxed two-day destination wedding that felt intimate, personal, and quietly joyful, surrounded by the people who matter most.
This multiday wedding in Spa, Belgium, unfolded across golden summer light, shared meals, kids running freely on the grass, and moments that felt unplanned in the best possible way.

Why Ray & Kim Chose Domaine de Bromromme for their wedding
Domaine de Bromromme is a former farmstead transformed into a warm, characterful wedding location in the hills near Spa. When Ray & Kim first visited the domaine, they knew almost immediately. The domaine gave them exactly what they were looking for: the feeling of being away together, without the stress of long-distance travel.
Located about four hours from Amsterdam and 3,5 hours from Utrecht, the domaine was easy to reach for guest, including many families with young children, while still offering the sense of a destination wedding.
Couples are drawn to Domaine de Bromromme because:
- The privacy of having everyone together in one place
- A ceremony field with panoramic views over the rolling Ardennes hills
- The calm, natural surroundings of the Ardennes
- On-site accommodation that encourages true multiday connection
- The balance between rustic character and refined comfort
Domaine de Bromromme doesn’t feel like a traditional wedding venue, it’s more like a shared home for a weekend, setting the tone for everything that follows. Its calm, cohesive atmosphere works beautifully for storytelling on film.
As a filmmaker, it’s a joy to work here, I love capturing everything quietly in the background, and in this setting, genuine moments unfold naturally, without forcing anything.
Guest Count & Accommodation
- The domaine offers 18 rooms, sleeping up to 38 guests
- Ideal for close family and friends staying on-site
- Additional guests can stay in nearby villages or Spa itself
- Works well even with children, plenty of space to move and play
- Great indoor (back-up) option for drinks and dinner

A Two-Day Wedding Weekend in the Ardennes
Friday Evening – Welcome BBQ
The weekend began on Friday evening with a welcome BBQ at the domaine. Instead of formal speeches or schedules, this night was all about easing into the weekend together.
Kim’s family – Vietnamese, with a strong background in hospitality – fully took care of the food. The atmosphere was relaxed, generous, and warm. Long tables, shared dishes, kids playing, and conversations that didn’t need to end early.
As the sun slowly dipped behind the trees, the light turned soft and golden, perfect for an unhurried start to the celebrations.

Saturday – The Wedding Day
A Slow, Gentle Morning
The wedding day itself started quietly. Ray & Kim got ready without rush, leaving space for laughter, small moments together, and time for Kim with her two children.
There was no sense of “performing” the day, just being present in it.
First Look in the Courtyard (around 12:00)
Instead of a private first look, Ray & Kim chose something different. At noon, they saw each other for the first time in the courtyard, surrounded by all their guests, around 40 to 50 close friends and family.
It was simple, emotional, and incredibly special. Having everyone witness that moment created an immediate sense of togetherness that carried through the rest of the day.
Ceremony with a View (14:30)
The ceremony took place on the grass field, overlooking the rolling hills of the Ardennes.
- Led by a close friend of the couple
- Entirely personal, weaving together their story
- Live music by a singer–pianist throughout the ceremony
- Children playing quietly on the grass as vows were spoken
Nothing felt staged. The ceremony flowed naturally, with music and words blending into the landscape. An open, relaxed, unhurried setting.

Afternoon Drinks & Cake (16:00)
After the ceremony, guests gathered for drinks and cake. Once again, Kim’s family took care of the food, including what might genuinely have been the best wontons ever.
People lingered. Conversations overlapped. Kids ran between groups. It felt more like a garden gathering than a traditional wedding timeline, exactly as Ray & Kim had hoped.
Dinner, First Dance & Celebration (from 19:00)
As evening settled in, everyone moved inside for dinner, followed by the opening dance and a relaxed party that unfolded naturally.
The weekend was blessed with sunny summer weather. In July, the sun sets around 21:30–21:45, which meant:
- Golden light during the welcome BBQ
- Soft evening tones during drinks and dinner
- A warm glow filtering through the trees around the venue
At Domaine de Bromromme, the sun often slips between the forest edges, creating depth and contrast that works beautifully on film.

Why Video Mattered So Much Here
A multiday wedding like this isn’t just about the ceremony or speeches — it’s about everything in between.
What video captured especially well:
- Small interactions between friends and family
- Kids moving freely through the space
- The atmosphere of being together for an entire weekend
- A surprise speech by Ray & Kim’s 12-year-old son, an emotional moment that might otherwise have faded into memory
When everyone you love is together, moving through the same space for days, those moments deserve to be preserved in motion.

Ray & Kim said
“Dear Ellen, you were amazing, and so kind! Thank you for your eye for detail and your calm presence. You were everywhere without ever being noticed, and you captured the perfect moments. We are so incredibly happy that we found you and that everything fell into place perfectly. You captured so many precious moments—moving images that we will cherish for years to come.”
