How to plan a wedding at
Casa Cornacchi, Tuscany

Hi, I’m Ellen, a destination wedding filmmaker.
Having witnessed so many wedding days firsthand,
I’ve seen what truly works (and what doesn’t)
I’m excited to share those insights with you!
For couples dreaming of an Italian destination wedding.
Planning a destination wedding is all about finding a place that feels like you. A place that makes you instantly breathe deeper, where the colours are richer, the sunsets slower, and the celebration feels effortless. For Ewoud & Lotte, that place turned out to be Casa Cornacchi, a charming villa tucked between the rolling hills of Tuscany.

This summer, I had the pleasure of filming the multi-day destination wedding of Ewoud & Lotte at Casa Cornacchi. I first met this couple a year earlier when I filmed their civil ceremony in Belgium, and being invited back to capture their Italian wedding felt like a continuation of a story I had already been a part of.
Why Casa Cornacchi Stands Out
As a wedding videographer working frequently in Italy, I’ve filmed love stories all around the country, and I particularly enjoyed this wedding at Casa Cornacchi. The villa offers a sense of privacy and calm that perfectly suits couples looking to slow down and spend time together with their closest family and friends.
The villa feels both intimate and versatile. Its charm lies not only in the landscape but in the way the space is organized for a wedding weekend. Couples are drawn to it because:
- Varied, cinematic locations: From the patio shaded by olive trees to the swimming pool with views over the hills, and open areas for the ceremony and dinners, each part of the villa provides a natural setting for every moment.
- Attention to detail: The villa offers simple but thoughtful styling. From red-checked tablecloths and fresh basil during the pizza party to elegant touches at the dinner tables, every small element adds texture to the weekend.
- Privacy and focus: Set away from busy roads or towns, guests can fully relax and enjoy each other’s company. The villa also offers a range of customizable extras, such as the Pizza Party, Pasta Night, and BBQ evening, which give couples more freedom to shape their weekend.
- Location in Tuscany: Casa Cornacchi is perfectly situated for exploring the region. Florence, Pisa, and Rome are all within reach, making it easy to combine the wedding with pre- or post-wedding adventures.
From a filmmaking perspective, Casa Cornacchi works exceptionally well. The golden Tuscan light drapes the hills and vineyards beautifully, the gentle breeze moves the olive branches and table linens just so, and the villa’s multiple area’s create a setting for each moment.
When is the best time to get married in Tuscany?
The best time of year to get married in Tuscany is during the spring and early autumn. In spring, the countryside comes alive with blooming flowers, lush green vineyards, and mild temperatures that are perfect for outdoor ceremonies. Autumn offers warm, golden light, comfortable weather, and the romantic atmosphere of harvest season. Both seasons avoid the intense summer heat of July and August.
How do you het to the location?
You can easily reach Casa Cornacchi by flying into Florence Airport (FLR) or Pisa International Airport (PSA). From Florence, it’s about a 1.5-hour drive through the rolling Tuscan countryside, while from Pisa it takes roughly 2 hours by car.
My personal tip for wedding guests: spend a night in Florence at Eurostars Florence Boutique. Their rooftop terrace offers one of the best views of the city. I still daydream about my own evening there after this wedding: backing up footage, takeaway pizza in hand, and the Tuscan sun setting over the rooftops.

A Multi-Day Love Story:
Ewoud & Lotte in Tuscany
Ewoud & Lotte’s celebration unfolded over three days, allowing everyone to arrive slowly, reconnect.
Arrival and Pizza Party
Guests arrived throughout the afternoon and checked into the villa at their own pace. The evening was a playful pizza party, complete with bingo cards to help everyone get to know each other.

The Wedding Day at Casa Cornacchi
The wedding day began with a calm morning. Lotte got ready with her four closest friends in the bridal suite, full of laughter and shared anticipation. Meanwhile, the men relaxed by the pool, enjoying the sun and taking it easy before the day’s celebrations began.
Photoshoot (12:00)
The surrounding hills and nearby town of Rigiona offered a variety of locations for photos, but I had also scouted the area beforehand and discovered a perfect cypress-lined avenue just 10 minutes from the villa. In person, it was even more stunning than I had hoped.
Scouting locations like this is something I focus on as a videographer; all the travel and preparation pays off when you find a spot that elevates the story without feeling staged.
Ceremony (16:00)
The ceremony was held in an open area at the villa, with about 40–50 guests.
Aperitivo (17:00)
Guests moved to the poolside for drinks. Conversations flowed naturally while the villa’s surroundings created a seamless backdrop.
Dinner (19:00)
Long tables ran alongside the villa. Lotte, a graphic designer, had crafted the table cards herself, adding a personal touch. Speeches were interspersed between courses, creating a natural rhythm to the evening.
Evening Celebration (22:00)
As the night grew darker, the group moved to the dancing area. Ewoud & Lotte’s opening dance marked the start of a joyful party that continued into the night.
Goodbye Brunch
The final morning was spent over breakfast together.

The Experience: More Than Just a Wedding
What made Ewoud & Lotte’s wedding at Casa Cornacchi so special was how it reflected who they are as a couple. They weren’t looking for a staged or overly structured day. Instead, they wanted moments to unfold naturally, surrounded by the people they love, in a setting that felt like home. Tuscany, with its rolling hills, vineyards, and olive groves, provided the perfect backdrop for this kind of relaxed, intimate celebration.
Throughout the day, their connection was constant: subtle glances during the vows, shared laughter, and moments on the dance floor where it felt like only they existed. Lotte also wanted plenty of time with her closest friends, and the morning allowed for exactly that. Getting ready together, sharing laughs, and enjoying a relaxed, unhurried start to the day.
The multi-day format gave everyone space to slow down, connect, and celebrate fully. Moments that might have been rushed in a single-day wedding were captured beautifully on film, letting Ewoud & Lotte relive their weekend exactly as it happened.
What Filming at Casa Cornacchi Means For Your Wedding Story
From a filmmaking perspective, Casa Cornacchi offers a natural combination of space, light, and charm that makes capturing a wedding effortless. The villa’s patios, pool, and open ceremony areas, combined with the surrounding vineyards and rolling Tuscan hills, provide multiple cinematic settings for each part of the day.
For Ewoud & Lotte, filming was especially valuable. Their connection and the shared moments with their closest friends and family revealed themselves in quiet gestures, laughter, and long conversations around the table. Moments that are easy to miss but become central in a wedding film. Having scouted the area beforehand, I was able to include hidden gems, like the cypress-lined avenue just 10 minutes from the villa, which added unexpected layers to their story. The natural light, warm summer air, and carefully curated villa spaces allowed these moments to unfold organically, resulting in a film that feels intimate, authentic, and timeless.

Ewoud & Lotte said
“We just watched it together! Every little moment, feels so alive. You truly captured the spirit of our wedding.
We couldn’t be happier!”
