A Real Couples Guide to a Wedding at Finca La Vuelta, Spain

Hi, I’m Ellen, a destination wedding filmmaker.
Having witnessed so many wedding days firsthand,
I’ve seen what truly works (and what doesn’t)
I’m excited to share those insights with you!
For couples dreaming of an intimate Spanish wedding surrounded by sunshine, citrus trees, and unforgettable moments.
Planning a destination wedding is all about finding a place that feels like an extension of your story. A place where your guests instantly slow down, where every corner invites connection, and where the celebration feels effortless from beginning to end.
For Ruben & Lucinde, that place was Finca La Vuelta, a beautiful countryside wedding venue near Alicante, Spain. Surrounded by orange and lemon groves, it provided the perfect setting for a wedding weekend filled with family, laughter, meaningful traditions, and one very special surprise.
As a destination wedding videographer, I’ve filmed weddings in many beautiful places, but Finca La Vuelta has a warmth that’s hard to describe. The combination of Mediterranean charm, endless sunshine, and the relaxed atmosphere of rural Spain creates a wedding experience that feels both elegant and deeply personal.

This April, I had the pleasure of filming the multi-day destination wedding of Ruben & Lucinde. What unfolded over three days was far more than a wedding celebration. It was a gathering of families and friends, a weekend full of shared memories, and the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their lives.
Why Finca La Vuelta Is One of Spain’s Most Charming Wedding Venues
Nestled in the countryside near Alicante, Finca La Vuelta combines authentic Spanish character with the intimacy couples often search for when planning a destination wedding.
The venue is surrounded by citrus trees, offering a setting that feels peaceful, private, and unmistakably Mediterranean. Whether you’re enjoying a welcome party by the pool, exchanging vows beneath the trees, or dancing long into the night, the entire property feels designed for bringing people together.
Couples are drawn to Finca La Vuelta because:
- It offers an authentic Spanish atmosphere away from busy tourist areas.
- The citrus garden provides a beautiful, shaded ceremony setting that needs very little decoration.
- The restored 125-year-old farmhouse includes six boutique suites and apartments, allowing close family and friends to stay on-site.
- The venue has its own excellent restaurant, making the entire wedding experience seamless.
- The Dutch owners speak Dutch, English, and Spanish and know the area inside out, making planning easy for international couples.
- Its location on the Costa Blanca, just 30 km from Alicante Airport, is both peaceful and easily accessible for guests.
From a filmmaker’s perspective, it’s a venue where everything flows naturally. Guests can stay together, celebrations can unfold across multiple days, and the citrus trees create a beautiful backdrop from start to finish.
Best Season to Get Married Near Alicante, Spain
One of the biggest advantages of this region is its climate. Spring and autumn are particularly beautiful, offering warm temperatures, plenty of sunshine, and comfortable conditions for outdoor celebrations. April, when Ruben & Lucinde got married, felt especially perfect. The temperatures were pleasant, the countryside was vibrant, and guests could comfortably enjoy every part of the celebration outdoors.

A Multi-Day Destination Wedding in Spain: Ruben & Lucinde at Finca La Vuelta
Ruben & Lucinde turned their wedding into a three-day celebration, giving their guests plenty of time to slow down, connect, and enjoy the Spanish sunshine together.
Welcome Paella Party at Finca La Vuelta
The celebrations began with a relaxed paella pool party at the finca. Earlier that day, we explored the historic streets of Elche for a couple session before returning for an evening filled with Spanish food, live music, and even a flamenco workshop.
One of the most memorable moments came when the mothers of Ruben & Lucinde surprised everyone with a personal ABC about the couple. Family members joined in with speeches, stories, and even a nostalgic dance performance to a classic K3 song by Ruben’s sisters and Lucinde’s sister-in-law.
But the biggest surprise was still to come: Ruben & Lucinde announced they were expecting their first child. The news brought tears, laughter, and endless hugs as family and friends celebrated not only a wedding, but the start of a new chapter.

The Wedding Day at Finca La Vuelta
First Look & Couple Session (13:00)
The day began with a first look, followed by a relaxed couple session around the finca. Surrounded by citrus trees and warm Spanish sunshine, it was the perfect way to take a moment together before the celebrations began.
Ceremony in the Citrus Garden (16:00)
Ruben & Lucinde exchanged vows in the finca’s beautiful citrus garden, surrounded by family, friends, lemon trees, and orange blossoms. The setting felt effortlessly romantic and needed very little decoration thanks to the natural beauty of the venue.
A lemon-inspired colour palette of soft greens, yellows, oranges, and beige tied everything together. More than just a theme, it reflected Lucinde’s personal motto: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”
Cake & Toast (17:00)
Following the ceremony, guests gathered for cake, champagne, and congratulations. With the Spanish sun still shining and everyone lingering in the garden, it felt relaxed and intimate.
Dinner (19:00)
As the sun began to set, everyone came together for a long dinner under the Spanish sky. Heartfelt speeches, great food, and plenty of laughter made it one of those evenings nobody wanted to end.
Party & Live Music (from 21:00)
The evening kicked off with a special choreographed first dance, created with the help of Weddingdance Academy. Ruben & Lucinde had clearly put in the time and effort, and their performance was the perfect way to open the party.
Live music by Bella Luna kept the energy high from the very beginning. Within minutes the dance floor was full, and it stayed that way for the rest of the night. From emotional singalongs to all-out dancing, it was the perfect ending to a beautiful wedding day.

Farewell Brunch by the Sea
The weekend ended with a relaxed brunch at Armonía Beach Club. Overlooking the Mediterranean, guests shared stories from the past few days before saying their goodbyes.
After brunch, Ruben & Lucinde headed into the sea for one final photo and video session to “trash the dress”. The perfect ending to a wedding weekend centred around family, connection, and celebrating life’s biggest moments.

The Experience: More Than Just a Wedding
What made Ruben & Lucinde’s wedding so special wasn’t only the beautiful Spanish setting. It was the way every element reflected who they are. The lemon theme wasn’t chosen because it looked beautiful: it represented Lucinde’s outlook on life. The multi-day format wasn’t about extending the celebration: it gave guests the opportunity to genuinely connect. The pregnancy announcement wasn’t planned as a grand reveal: it was simply a meaningful moment shared with the people they love most.
Throughout the weekend, there was a constant sense of togetherness. Family members participated in speeches, performances, traditions, and celebrations. Every guest played a role in the story.
The result was a wedding that felt deeply personal, incredibly joyful, and impossible to forget.
