Getting Married at an Intimate Oceanfront Villa in Curaçao

Hi, I’m Ellen, a destination wedding filmmaker.
Having witnessed so many wedding days firsthand,
I’ve seen what truly works (and what doesn’t)
I’m excited to share those insights with you!
For couples who dream of a private celebration at a cliff overlooking the ocean.
Planning a destination wedding in Curaçao is all about finding a place that feels like home, even if it’s thousands of miles away. A place where the ocean whispers, the sunset lingers, and you can celebrate exactly the way you want. For Alex & Savinne, that place was a stunning private villa perched on a cliff, with views that literally take your breath away.
As a Curaçao wedding videographer, I’ve filmed love stories all over the island, but a private villa like this has a magic of its own. Everything feels intimate, personal, and completely yours. Just the two of you, your closest family, and the endless ocean as your backdrop.

Getting Married on Curaçao
Last February, I had the honor of filming Alex & Savinne’s intimate wedding at their private cliffside villa. Their day wasn’t about schedules or tradition. It was about connection, laughter, and being together in an incredible place.
Why Couples Choose a Private Villa on Curaçao
A villa like this offers an unmatched combination of privacy and luxury. Alex & Savinne’s villa had:
- A sandy garden with panoramic ocean views, perfect for a sunset ceremony
- An extra-large outdoor kitchen with a BBQ-grill for private chef dining
- Four spacious, identical bedrooms plus a master bedroom all with private bathrooms, making it perfect for small groups (up to 10 adults overnight)
From a filmmaking perspective, a villa like this is a dream. Every detail is naturally cinematic. From the light spilling through the specially designed walls with air- and light-permeable patterns, to the ocean stretching endlessly beyond the cliff.
And the privacy? It lets couples fully relax, laugh, and be themselves without distractions.
What’s even more special is that this villa feels less like a wedding venue and more like a cozy family vacation home, a place for making memories together rather than just exchanging vows. That kind of depth, genuine connection, and relaxed vibe brings so much richness to the film, capturing not just a day, but a feeling that will last forever.
Best season to get married in Curaçao
The best time to get married in Curaçao is generally from December to April. Personally, I think the ideal months are March and April, when temperatures are warm but comfortable (around 27–29°C) and the chances of rain are relatively low. Thanks to the tropical climate, weddings are possible all year round, though the summer and early fall months (May–October) tend to be hotter and more humid.

Relaxed Destination Wedding in Curaçao
The Wedding Day
Hair & Make-up (13:00)
The day started slow and easy, with Alex & Savinne getting ready in the villa. I love days like this. No rushing, no stress, just time to soak in the moment, be together, sip some coffee, and let excitement build.
Private Vows (15:00)
Alex & Savinne shared their vows in private before the guests arrived. There’s something so special about that quiet, just-the-two-of-you moment. It really sets the tone for the day and lets the emotion land naturally on film.
Guest Arrival (16:00)
The guests arrived for a relaxed cocktail hour in the villa’s outdoor spaces. The vibe was easy, warm, and full of laughter. Exactly the kind of intimate energy that makes a wedding feel personal.
Sunset Ceremony (18:00)
The ceremony took place in the villa’s sandy garden, overlooking the ocean. With just a handful of close family and friends, Alex & Savinne said yes as the sky blushed pink and orange. The sunset, the sound of the waves, the ocean breeze. It was all perfectly timed and effortlessly beautiful.
Couple Session (18:40)
Right after their ceremony, Alex & Savinne took a few quiet moments for themselves for a couple session. With the ocean stretching endlessly behind them and the golden light of the sunset wrapping around everything.
These private, in-between moments with just the two of you are incredibly valuable. They let you really experience the day together. My tip: make sure to plan these kinds of little moments into your day, it’s worth it.
Private Chef Dinner (19:00)
After the ceremony, the celebration moved to the villa’s open kitchen, where a private chef prepared a multi-course dinner right in front of everyone. It was interactive, warm, and delicious. A dining experience as personal as the ceremony itself.
Dinner was by Touch of Taste, one of my personal favorite chefs on Curaçao.

The Experience: Beyond a Wedding
What made Alex & Savinne’s day so special was how authentically it reflected who they are as a couple. They weren’t interested in a big, staged celebration. They wanted connection, freedom, and space to truly enjoy their day. Every moment, from the private vows to the sunset ceremony and the chef-cooked dinner, felt effortless and genuine.
A private villa allows for exactly that: intimacy, presence, and authenticity. It gives couples, and their closest guests, the freedom to enjoy the day at their own pace.
A Multi-Day Destination Wedding in Curaçao
The villa felt less like a wedding venue and more like a home away from home. It gave them and their closest friends and family the space to enjoy the day, and the days around it. Like a mini family vacation. Swimming at the beach, taking a boat trip, snorkeling, or even a buggy tour around the island… these are the moments that create beautiful memories together and add so much depth and life to the wedding (and film).
What Filming a Private Villa Wedding Means For Your Story
From a videography perspective, a villa wedding is gold. The combination of private spaces, natural light, and epic views lets every moment shine without interference. The ocean, the sunsets, and the villa’s architecture all create cinematic frames effortlessly, allowing the story to be told in a way that feels as real as it did in the moment.

“Every time we watch our videos, we notice new moments we had missed. Everything is captured beautifully. We’re so grateful we chose Ellen, for both the result and her warm, kind presence and natural connection with everyone around her.”
Thinking About an Intimate Curaçao Wedding?

- A private ceremony by the ocean
- A villa that feels like your own world

- A family get-away instead of just saying “I do”

Every intimate wedding is unique, shaped by the people, the place, and the moments in between. Alex & Savinne’s day shows how a private villa allows for effortless, personal, and unforgettable celebration.
